Written by Mr. Maxwell Maltz, MD, FICS. First published by Prentice Hall Press in 1960.
Having recently read this piece, the book proves to transcend time. The framework for this book is both scientific and subjective as it pertains to the complexion of human nature. The book begins with a profound impact…
“Science has already confirmed what philosophers, mystics, and other intuitive people have long declared: every human being has been engineered for success by his creator. Every human being has access to a power greater than himself.”
If you are a person of faith, as I am, this statement will resonate with you as it did for me. As I read on with anticipation, the book prompted me to consider this question:
What limiting beliefs are keeping me from living a life worthy of glorifying Christ?
The book offers a broad range of examples pertaining to inferiority complexes due to self-conscious behaviors rooted in our subconscious that eventually develop into habit loops that place us in a disadvantageous position from living a life of good stewardship.
The book is peppered with relevant content helping the reader to recognize unbecoming behavior that tends to take us down bottomless rabbit holes of negative cycles. It draws awareness toward what triggers one’s bad behavior so that one can counteract negative thoughts with intentional “winning feelings.”
I’ll conclude with this final thought…I challenge you to reflect daily on joy and happiness versus fear and scarcity, for God has a plan for all those created in His image. Embrace the gift of life with a newfound zest and glorify Him with your life.
I highly recommend this read for those seeking to challenge their comfort zone and improve their personal outlook on life. God Bless.
“The word cybernetics comes from a Greek term that means ‘a helmsman who steers his ship to port.’ Psycho-Cybernetics is a term I coined which means, “Steering your mind to a productive useful goal…, so you can reach the greatest port in the world…peace of mind. With it, you’re somebody. Without it, you’re nothing.” -Dr. Maxwell Maltz, author of 30 million copy best-seller Psycho Cybernetics
